I bought this system in the summer of 2000 after many weeks of looking round electrical stores. Firstly its great styling caught my eye, and secondly it had every feature i was after.

Description The unit itself has a silver finish with a revolving display in the top third. The CD is located on the top, under a glass lid. The MD slot is located in the centre of the system, and the tape player is located in the bottom third of the front. The trim on either side of the unit is dark grey. The two speakers are the same height as the main unit and are made of a medium colour wood. They have detachable almost black grilles which covers the silver speaker front.

Sound Quality The speakers are rated at 20W however they produce a very healthy sound with any type of music. Bassy tracks sound extremely good at reasonably high volume levels and there is no distortion. Radio reception is also very good and recordings from the radio with either tape (FERRIC)or MD are pretty much CD quality. Bass and Treble can be adjusted easily, and this allows you to fiddle about until you get the sound u desire instead of some pre-entered EQ-setting.

Features

-CD player with CD-TEXT
-CDR/CD-RW playback
-Repeat, Random, Program etc on both CD and MD
-MD Player/Recorder with full editing suite
-no mono recording on MD
-PLL digital tuner with RDS (RADIO-TEXT), TA
-AM/FM with 30 presets
-Auto tuning/manual Tuning facility
-Single Tape Deck (Play/Record)
-Auto-Reverse
-no recording on Chrome tapes.
-playback of all types of tape is possible
-Synchro recording to Tape or MD or both from Radio or CD.
-Three different timer settings.
-Sleep Timer
-Clock
-AUX input (for record player etc)
-Balance adjustment
-Large revolving display with blue text
-Full remote control
-Light on unit which changes colour according to status (Red = standby, Green = on, Orange = Timer on)

Opinion This is a very well equipped system from a very good name and it lives up to all my expectations. Sound Quality is excellent and very clear with no distortion.

Things that could be improved
-Titling of minidiscs would be a bit easier if there was a jog dial, instead the remote is used for titling.
-Mono recording on the MD would be nice although I have been informed that i'm not missing much.
-Recording on chrome tapes would also be nice but as i've mentioned sound quality on ferric tapes is near CD quality so it doesn't really matter.

Last word As far as i know this system is no longer being made, however it is possible that certain stores will have some left and therefore they will be offering them at lower prices. Indeed in England the retail price was 400 and in a sale (end of line sale) i picked up my system brand new for 250 a saving of 150! - Buy it.
