I've had a MXD-D5C since Jan 2002, and have recorded about 50 MD's on it. Lately, it has started acting up a bit. It refuses to read certain pre-recorded CD's. Brand new ones with no scratches. I've cleaned the lazer lens in the cd portion, which helped somewhat, but I suspect the lazer may be weak too. The MD portion of the deck works as advertized.

This is an incredible deck with great features. Has ATRAC with Type-R DSP and MDLP recording modes. Can record from CD to MD at 4X realtime, or 2X realtime for MDLP recording. The minidisc slide in and out with speed and ease. Has all the features of a single minidisc player with the 5 disc changer as a great added bonus and it is possible to record off of any of the 5 CD's. Paid $280, which is what you might pay for a good single MD unit.

This new deck is great. Before is just had a MZ-R37, which was a pain to record on. This new deck makes it a breeze to record and title discs and it is a lot faster too. The 5 disc cd changer is also great for listening to music while i am just sitting around my house. I pick it up for $200 which was a great price considering it normally sells for around $400. It was well worth the money.
