A good all around portable player. I own several MD players and recorders from some of the major players (Sony, Sharp, Panasonic) and the Panasonic is pretty good. However, I personally still prefer Sony's machines for their look and build. Sharp's has the best bass boost system in the business. Pansonic's machines, I have noticed, emphasize light weight and small size. It's size and weight are comprable to most of the machines on the market. At its initial release, it was the lightest player in the world, and its successors will most likely boast that title. Playback quality and battery life is good. As always, I recommend completely draining the battery before recharging it so as to extend battery life. Many may claim that Ni-MH batteries don't suffer from memory effect, but they do. I don't like the bass boost, however, as there is only really one level of boost. The "Train" mode is garbage, as it actually lowers the bass as to not disturb whoever may be sitting beside you on a train ride. As with most MD players, it has a loop for a hand strap. The remote does look great. A nice blue glow, and with the hold on, you can see through the LCD. Pretty neat. It came with a rechargeable Ni-MH battery, a Ni-MH battery charger, one Panasonic LR6 ("AA") battery (non-rechargeable), one LR6 battery screw-on adapter, LCD backlit remote, and earphones. Most instructions were in Japanese, although there was a limited English guide to some of the modes and features. The box it was packaged in looked less exciting than the Sony or Sharp ones, if that is important. The box looks vibrant, but the cardboard feels cheap.
