Reviewer: Anonymous     September 19, 2002
i ordered this player/recorder off minidisco and i loved it right out of the box. the only complaint i have is the battery compartment on the top. it's easy to record, fits in my pocket and goes anywhere without skipping, i highly recomend this player.

I'm an over the road truck driver with a huge collection of l.p.&45 records. This little unit makes copys so close to the original it's hard to tell them apart!Cassette tape dosen't even come close. As far as the quality is concernedit seems to be built quite well.My only complaint is the volume though headphones
ISN'T LOUD ,even though the most efecent headphones I can find.Seems this is the norm for most of todays headphone player/radios.

4.0/5.04.0/5.04.0/5.04.0/5.04.0/5.0   better than sony 750, but what's THAT sticking out?
Reviewer: jpjuggler@hotmail.com from Ann Arbor, MI     December 21, 2001
I had just tried the Sony 750 Md with the attached radio. I listen to the radio a lot, but found the one on the 750 not to have very good reception. Also I found the sony to have a low volume output. Plus, with the sony I was trying the optical USB recording from the computer. I record internet radio. What I didn't know, but found out
quick, is that every time you plug the usb cord into the hub, it hijacked the sound output on my computer (mac). As in, I had no sound coming out of my speakers, until I unplugged the usb cord
Not convenient at all. So it was back to analog recording and I returned the 750 and was in the market for something else. I picked the t-90. Here's what I like so far It's louder than the sony. Rated at 10mw per channel vs. Sony's 5 mw per channel. It has the adjustable recording on the fly. I like the VU meter, easy to read. Nice big display.
Things I don't like
Button's are too small. Doesn't have the one touch eject mechanism. And most of all, Ugly Ugly battery compartment sticking out of the unit. what Were they thinking?

Overall, though, this unit, if you don't need the MDLP and lcd remote, at $129, is great; it was the cheapest MD on the market while I was looking.

2.0/5.02.0/5.02.0/5.02.0/5.02.0/5.0   damn thing broke
Reviewer: Anonymous     October 21, 2001
When I first got this recorder I was in love. It did everything I wanted and well at that. However, two months later it stopped recording out of the blue. Now I have to ship it to Milwaukee to get it fixed. Sharp will pay to fix it because it is less than 90 days old, but will not renew the original warranty. The whole time I was using it, I was extremely careful and all of a sudden it was broken. The player was good, but beware of quality.

4.0/5.04.0/5.04.0/5.04.0/5.04.0/5.0   Great Bang for your Buck Player!
Reviewer: John from Canada     July 08, 2001
This player is very similar to Sharps's last year MT-50/60

If you wanna get every pennt's worth , this is the player to have. It's cheap, powerful, good quality, has everything all of sharps players have except a
LCD remote MDLP and battery life is not as good as the more expensive models.

Other than that this a top notch player.

4.0/5.04.0/5.04.0/5.04.0/5.04.0/5.0   Another great one from Sharp!
Reviewer: Chris Hickman from Peoria, IL     June 22, 2001
I just got this recorder from minidisco.com, and it is wonderful. I used to have an MT831, went to DAT, and then decided DAT was too costly so I went back to MD. Looked at what was out there, decided that I didn't need MDLP, so this was the way to go. Upon arrival, I was both pleasantly surprised and horrified...such a beautiful brushed aluminum case! And, oh no! That battery thing in the picture actually is ATTACHED! Yes, in the pictures shown, that battery slot shown on top of the unit is actually the main (and only) battery slot, which holds the included AA NiMH battery (or any other AA sized battery, just don't try and charge anything else )). I didn't really like this, but this also allowed them to make a thicker case and make it more sturdy feeling than the MT831, it feels VERY sturdy. Also, it charges without a cradle, which I don't really like, but I got around this by letting it charge while still in my leather zipper case that I also got along with it. (thanks, minidisco!)

It comes with a few accessories that I wouldn't expect...namely a miniplugTOSlink optical cable! This will be a nice compliment to my MD-R1 I just won off ebay, NIB for $120 ) Also came with some weird, foldable earphones (as opposed to the standard, crappy earbuds) that I still haven't figured out yet. I'm probably just dumb, they seem to be half earbud, half earphone, as they seem to sit in the ear, facing the back of you. They fold twice and are really compact folded up. You also get a miniplugstereo RCA cable! It was kinda cheap quality for an "audiophile" like me, but it's nice that they included it! Now you can convert all your tapes to MD!

Other than that, you get your standard instruction manual (clear and concise), the felt bag, charging adapter, and remote...this remote doesn't have a light up LCD screen on it, which is a little disappointing but I don't use the remote anyway, so it doesn't bother me a whole lot. Would be nice when taping if I trusted it )

The only things I think could be improved on this are battery positioning (though I'm not sure how they'd do it), and I think that since this is a lower cost item (paid $170 USD), they should include a blank MD in it, because I'm assuming many first time MD users will pick this up.

All in all, a great MD recorder at this low price, and I am especially happy with this after paying $300 for the MT831 last year!

Chris
